Terms of Use
The basic terms of using this site. Short, plain-English, no surprises.
The test is for self-reflection, not diagnosis
The Rice Purity Test is a tongue-in-cheek self-graded questionnaire that has been circulating in college culture since 1924. It is not a medical, psychological, or legal assessment. The score you get from the test has no diagnostic meaning, and we don’t claim otherwise. If you’re looking for actual psychological evaluation, please consult a qualified professional, not a hundred-year-old freshman icebreaker.
Content on this site
The 100 questions on the test, and the writing on the score guide, history page, questions page, and average score guide, are written by us based on the canonical 1986 version of the test (which is in the public domain through decades of unattributed circulation). You’re welcome to read, share, link to, and quote from the site for non-commercial purposes. If you want to republish any of the content commercially, get in touch first.
No warranties
The site is provided “as is.” We don’t warrant that the score we calculate is meaningful in any way other than as a simple tally of your “yes” answers. We don’t warrant that the site will be available at any particular time. We don’t warrant anything beyond what’s specifically stated on the page.
Your responsibility
By taking the test, you confirm that you’re at least thirteen years old, and that you understand the test is entirely self-administered. Your answers are yours; the meaning you give them is yours.
Changes to these terms
We’ll update this page if anything material changes. The last-updated date below will be revised when that happens.
